Sports Matter

Monday, April 3, 2017

Sports are crucial to a person’s development. Whether you like them or not, they instill life values that children carry with them for the rest of their lives. Sports give children a healthy, energetic and social outlet that teaches strategy and teamwork. Dick’s Sporting Goods has taken the initiative to start a program, “Sports Matter”, in order to save sports from increasing budget cuts. This is an effort to increase sports participation in the community. They have pledged over $50 Million to save over 1800 teams.

To give us a real-life visual of the alarming problems our community sports are having, they have helped to fund “We Could Be King”, a documentary about two high school rival football teams that must merge due to a budget cut. They will be having a showing of the film on Monday, April 3, at 6:00 pm. Come out to 125 Business Building to discuss the impact that Dick’s is having on communities all over.
