Chad Dickersonis the CEO, President and Chair ofEtsy. Many know Etsy as the online buyer and seller community that focuses on homemade crafts or vintage goods. He joined Etsy in 2008 as CTO after having been CTO at Yahoo! for 5 years. In 2011 he took over as CEO, and, since then, sales in the Etsy community have grown significantly. Etsy now has 25 million members and 60 million visitors every month.
In 2013, Etsy became a certified B Corporation: a company that uses their business to solve social and environmental problems. Dickerson has been candid about his desire to create an Etsy economy to connect people. He is very passionate about his work, and finding a way to make work centered around people and re-humanizing work. They emphasize hand-crafted goods, community, recycling and reinventing.
In the last year Etsy has helped its community go solar and they have moved into a new global headquarters that adheres to some of the worlds highest sustainability standards. They are in the process of transitioning to renewable electricity by generating renewable energy at their new headquarters. Additionally, they have joined the NYC Carbon Challenge, in which they have committed to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 51% by the year 2020.
We are excited to hear more from Chad Dickerson at this year's Net Impact National Conference!
