Net Impact National has announced the top winners for Net Impact Undergraduate Chapter of the Year with Penn State’s Chapter coming in second place. Net Impact National brings hundreds of business school chapters together (graduate and undergraduate) to focus on the intersection of business with sustainability and social responsibility. Penn State was able to once again show their dedication to sustainability initiatives, ethical practice and corporate social responsibility.
Each year, Net Impact National nominates chapters nationwide that have stood out among the other Gold Status chapters. Of the 280 Net Impact chapters, 40% have reached Gold Status. Gold Status chapters are chosen and placed in this annual competition based on the “Creativity of Events and Programs, Meaningful Collaborations, Innovative Leadership and Engagement, and Impact”. Over 100 undergraduate chapters compete against each other to win the title of Chapter of the Year, show their progress, and be an example to fellow chapters.
This year, Penn State Net Impact Undergraduate was elected for the competition alongside the University of Minnesota and the University of California at Berkeley. According to the Net Impact National website, judging is “Based on a 4-point system in which a finalist chapter can gain 1 point by winning the popular vote online and the other 3 points from the votes of the three judges from the Net Impact Central team”. Penn State Net Impact was able to win the popular vote, and place second in the competition.
“I’m very proud of the effort the team put in this year, as an organization we’ve definitely grown and developed a lot. This is a great accomplishment and I would like to credit the e-board and the members, as well faculty and faculty advisor Professor Ron Johnson for it " says Icy Trinh, 2015-2016 Penn State Net Impact Undergraduate President.
Penn State Net Impact is excited about this accomplishment of having remained in the top 3 for the past 3 years- coming in first place in 2015 and second place in 2014.
Alec Raymond, current President of the Penn State Net Impact Undergraduate chapter says, “It’s exciting to see what our chapter has accomplished so far and I’m looking forward to seeing our progress continue during this upcoming school year! "
Great job to the University of Minnesota for winning Chapter of the Year and best of luck to Penn State in winning the title for the year to come !
