On Wednesday Dec 2, Dan Bena, Head of the Sustainable Development and Operations Outreach for PepsiCo's Global Operations, spoke to us regarding PepsiCo's sustainability performance practices and purpose towards the environment and their stakeholders. Bena highlighted CEO Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo and her implementation of the 'Performance with a Purpose' campaign to promote PepsiCo's dedication to working towards recycling initiatives and addressing climate change. This was a significant takeaway because in today's world the expectation is greater than just a working knowledge of sustainability and meeting the traditional metrics ratings, but more so the innovation and understanding of the bigger picture. My greatest takeaway was to look at global business through an embedded sustainable community lens and to be a part of a company like PepsiCo whose CEO's role as an advocate is more important than simply being an industry leader. The goal is a global sustainable community.
